Question 1: What is the Pythagorean Theorem? You should use words, pictures, symbols and numerical examples. (10 Marks)

The Pythagorean theorem is a way to determine how to calculate the lengths of all the sides on a right triangle.

To determine the Hypotenuse, one must square the Height and the Base and add together to determine the squared Hypotenuse. Then one must calculate the square-root of the squared Hypotenuse to determine the Hypotenuse.

To determine the Height, one must square the Base and the Hypotenuse. Then one must subtract the Base from the Hypotenuse, then calculate the square-root of the difference to determine the Height.

To determine the Base, one must square the Height and the Hypotenuse. Then one must subtract the Height from the Hypotenuse, then calculate the square-root the of the difference to determine the Base.


Question 2: How do you find the surface area of a right rectangular prism? You
should use words, pictures, symbols and numerical examples.(10 Marks)

The surface area of a rectangular prism is the combined total of all the sides on the prism

The formula to calculate this is: 2(lh)+2(lw)+2(hw)=sa

Say for example we have a prism with these dimensions: l=4 w=5 h=6.
to determine the surface area of this we would use the formula above. 2(4x6)+2(4x5)+2(5x6)=146
The surface area is 146.



Question 3: How do you find the surface area of a right cylinder? You should use
words, pictures, symbols and numerical examples. (10 Marks)

To determine the surface area of a right cylinder one must first determine the circumference of the end circles. To do this one must multiply the radius (or the diameter divided by two)by 6.28. Once this has been achieved one must then multiply the circumference by the height. Next add one of the end circles area multiplied by 2. To determine the are of the circle one must square the radius (or the diameter divided by 2) multiplied by pi. Now add this to the circumference multiplied by the height.






Question 4: What is a polygon and how do we classify one? (10 Marks

A polygon can be classified as any enclosed space। A normal polygon is a polygon where all the sides are the same length and have the same angles.
These are some regular polygons.
