Today we learned more about type 4 equations. (The variable is on both sides) The important thing to remember is to get the variables on one side and the numbers on the other side. Here is an example of a type 4 equation. 8y-6=5y+12. Now to solve this we need to isolate the variables, so we would add them together, but once you move the variable it becomes opposite of what it used to be. Ex 5 would be -5.
So now we have: 3y=6+12. Now we would just add the 6 and the 12. Now we have: 3y=18. The next step is to divide: 18/3=y. now we know that y=6. And you’re done.

Today we discussed how to answer a type three equation. The most important thing to know is how to use the distributive property. An example of a type three equation might be something like this:
3(x+8) = -6
The first thing you do is multiply the numbers in the brackets by the 3. Make sure they are done in order:
Ex:
3 times the (x) and then 3 times the (8):
Once that is done you should be left with something like this:
3x+24 = -6
Now you have a type two equation, to solve the rest of the question just complete it like a normal type 2 equation-
3x = -6-24
3x = -30
3x = -30
3 3
X = -10
If you get a question like this:
20 = 4(t/4 – 2)
First, it is often easy to switch the equation around so it looks like this:
4(t/4 – 2) = 20
Now you must add a new step. To figure out the answer do this
4 x t = 1t
1 4
Now finnish the rest of the equation like before.
t-8 = 20
t = 20+8
t = 28

6.2 solving type 2 equations
We did not learn anything new. We have been still working on Type 2 equations. Here is an example on how to do one.
Example: 3x + 2 = 14 =14-2=12
3x =12
3 divided 12 = 4
= x = 4

Level 2 Algebra
In today's math class we started level two algebra. Level 2 algebra is almost the same as level one algebra, but it takes two steps to get to the answer. We used the textbook page 381 to help us start level two algebra. This is a level one algebra question, x-2= 3. You would do this question in these steps. x-2= 3
x= 3+2
x= 5
This is a level two algebra question, 3x-5= 16. You would do this question in these steps.
3x-5= 16
3x= 16+5
3x= 21
x= 21/3
x= 7
Overall, level two questions are the same as level one questions with one more step.
