Jessica's Measurement Growing Post

Question 1: What is the Pythagorean Theorem? You should use words, pictures, symbols and numerical examples. (10 Marks)

The pythagorean theorem is the theory of Pythagoras which states the ability to calculate the objects sides'. Pythagoras stated that the hypoteneuse would be able to be calculated if the two other sides of the right triangle are available. His formula was a²+b²=c². To check if the hypoteneuse length is correct the sum of a and b should equal c. The hypoteneuse will usually be labeled c. C is the side opposite to the two other sides.

Question 2: How do you find the surface area of a right rectangular prism? You should use words, pictures, symbols and numerical examples.(10 Marks)

A rectangular prism is a solid object where all sides are rectangles. A rectangular prism always has three dimensions. That is why it is called a three dimensional object (3-D). A rectangular prism always has six sides. It is measured with height, depth, and width. Some objects that are rectangular prisms are shoe boxes, a birthday cake, a kleenex box, etc.

Question 3: How do you find the surface area of a right cylinder? You should use words, pictures, symbols and numerical examples. (10 Marks)

A rectangular cylinder is a solid rounded figure with two circles on the top and the bottom. A rectangular cylinder is a three dimensional object (3-D). An example of a cylinder is a can, ice cream pail, an unsharpened pencil, etc.

Question 4: What is a polygon and how do we classify one? (10 Marks)

A polygon is a closed figure that is made by joining line segments together. A ploygon usually has three or more sides. All polygons have straight sides. There are two types of polygons; an irregular and regular polygon. A regular polygon is a polygon that's sides are all the same length and who's angles are all the same. An irregular polygon is a polygon that does not follow the regular polygon rules.

Jessica, it is ok if you made your cylinder pics in paint, but a tool from our wiki must be used. You can upload your pictures to Bubbleshare, for example. Then insert the Bubbleshare instead of the pics.
