April 3, 2007

We didn't learn anything new today. We worked on another review sheet. We worked on type 1, 2, 3 and 4 equations.
Type 1: You have isolate the variable then solve the problem.
x+7=14
x=14-7
x=7
Type 2: You have to do the addition or subtraction before you can do the multiplication or division.
2x-5=17
2x=17+5
x=22/2
x=11
Type 3: In these problems you have to get rid of the brackets, you multiply the number outside the brackets by the numbers inside the brackets. Then solve like a type 2 problem.
5(x+3)=30
5x+15=30
5x=30-15
x=15/5
x=3
Type 4: In these problems there are two variable, you have to get the variable to the same side. Then solve.
5x-7=4x+11
5x-4x=11+7
x=18

Good post! Just remember that for Type 4 equations, there is only one variable, but it's on both sides. (If there are multiple variables,then that means they're different.)
