The Pythagorean Theorem is a formula. This formula is used to calculate a side of a right triangle (either the hypotenuse or one of the legs). The formula is: a2 + b2 = c2
a2 + b2 = c2
82 + 62 = c2
64 + 36 = c2
c2 = 100 (find the square route)
c = 10 cm
2. The base is 16 cm, the hypotenuse is 65 cm, what is the altitude?
a2 + 256 = 4225
a2 = 4225 - 256
a2 = 3969 (find the square route)
a = 63 cm
