Percent CHALLENGE!


Consider the following problem. Post your answer as a comment and explain how you got the answer.
On Monday, Euler's Bakery discounted the price of pies 20%. On Tuesday, it discounted the pies an additional 70%. What is the combined percent discount?

The combined percent of the pies is 76%. This is why because that you have to first take off 20% of the pie($12.00) so it would be $9.60. Then you take off 70% of $9.60 which will make the pie cost $2.88. Then you divide 2.88 by 12.00 which is 24%. Then subtract 24% off 100% which equals 76%.
